I speak, of course, of the Shadow of the Colossus movie.

First off, as brilliant of a game that is, there's no way to make a good movie out of it, unless your idea of a good movie is watching a dude ride around on a horse with an action beat every, oh, say, 40 minutes or so.

And second, it's produced by the guy responsible for The Scorpion King, and is being written by the guy who wrote the recent Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

So, in short, fuck this movie and I hope it gets canned.

I can't decide what angers me more: That someone wrote this, or that I agree with most of it.

I feel I should express something. In the wake of the new Watchmen movie (which was solid, bee tee double-you) there's been a certain phrase that people have been spouting about in various discussions, both in real life and on blog posts and message board threads:

"Based on the graphic novel..."
"Faithful to the graphic novel..."
"Well, in the graphic novel..."
"It's a little different in the graphic novel..."

Confession: I HATE the term "graphic novel." Seriously, I love them too but, come on. It's a fucking comic book. You don't need to attach a flowery euphemism to make it sound more important than it actually is.

From what I can tell, graphic novel is a term that people made up to make reading comic books sound less dorky. "I'm reading a comic book" is a lot less likely to get you laid than "I'm reading a graphic novel."

According to Wikipedia, graphic novels differ from comic books in that they are longer and made with higher grade materials. I call bullshit. A movie is still the same movie whether you watch it on VHS or see it in an IMAX theater.

I'm done.

I know we're all used to just taking 15 minutes out of our time to fill out a form survey or something, but this one's a little bit different. For this, you need to draw 2 pictures of yourself: One of what you look like now, and one of what you looked like at the very beginning of high school. Then, post comments about it. The idea is to see how much you've matured since then, show how big of attention whores we all were back then (or that we are now, for some), etc.

Don't you hate it when you spend 15 minutes walking to your class in -5 degree, windy-ass weather, only to find that said class has been canceled?

It's about quarter til noon. I've been at work since 9:30 but I've only gotten about 15 minutes of actual work done today. I think I understand why people with office jobs always seem to have a slightly more eroded soul than most people.

As far as motivation goes though, the upshot to working for your dad's company is that you go in knowing that you're contributing to a company whose financial success essentially determines whether or not you get to keep going to school. So that usually keeps the enthusiasm levels up when in doubt.

Today is just blah though. My supervisor is gone on vacation until Wednesday, and he left me a list of things to do while he's gone. A list that is shrinking quickly.

I guess I've just been in an off mood lately. I think it's because I'm apprehensive about school starting and having to get used to Julie not being there. I know she won't be that far away and a lot of couples have to deal with a lot worse, and believe me, I'm sure it'll all be totally all right once we get used to it. It's just making that adjustment that I'm not looking forward to.

Buhh. Enough about that.

Oh yeah, I had this dream the other night that I was in charge of writing Jesus Christ Superstar 2. In the dream I had the entire thing plotted out and most of the music ready to go, and when I woke up I remembered most of it and wanted to write it. But after I thought about it for a minute I realized that there was a minor discrepancy between the Bible in my dream and the actual real-life Bible: Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn't actually Jesus' mentor in the real Bible. So that kind of threw a wrench into the whole thing. Maybe the Holy Spirit can just appear to Jesus as a blue Force ghost or something. I dunno. Or Hell, why not the story of the New Testament retold in the Star Wars universe! The possibilities are endless.

I'm about done. I'm gonna do some more work. I'll post more later if I feel like killing some time by rambling some more.
